Hi there, it’s your favorite dog Jasper here! As you might already know, I love spending time with my humans. But there is one particular day that gets me all excited – July 4th! I will turn two on the 5th! Mom will probably make me wear that hat again. 🙁 Oh well.

What is July 4th
For those of you who don’t know, July 4th is a special day in the United States where we celebrate Independence Day. It’s a day filled with fun activities like barbecues, parades, and of course, fireworks! And let me tell you, as a dog, I have some strong opinions about this holiday.
July 4th Food!
First things first – let’s talk about the food. As a dog, I love snacking on everything and anything, so you can only imagine how thrilled I am during July 4th barbecues. From hot dogs to burgers to ribs, there is no shortage of delicious treats for me to sneakily grab when no one is looking. The aroma of sizzling meat on the grill drives me wild, and the sight of all those tasty dishes laid out on the picnic table is pure heaven. And don’t even get me started on those juicy watermelon slices – they are my absolute favorite! I can practically taste the sweet, refreshing fruit as it drips down my chin, cooling me off on a hot summer day. Oh, and let’s not forget the occasional dropped chip or piece of cheese – those little surprises make the day even better! I’m so stoked!!!
July 4th Fireworks
But as much as I love the food, I have mixed feelings about the loud noises that come with July 4th celebrations. Sure, fireworks may look pretty in the sky with their vibrant colors and dazzling patterns, but they make me feel a little anxious and scared. The sudden, unpredictable explosions and the way they echo can be quite overwhelming. I mean, can you blame me? My hearing is much more sensitive than yours, so those loud booms are like a million times louder to my ears. It’s not just the noise; the smell of gunpowder also makes me uneasy. But don’t worry, I always find comfort in snuggling up next to my humans during the fireworks display. They make sure I’m safe and loved, which helps me get through the night. I probably would not take your dog to the fireworks unless you know how he will react. You might loose him if he gets frightened. Leave him home with Lassie reruns! Even play some calming music and give him his favorite treats to distract him from the chaos outside. I myself, don’t mind the noise. Well, not much anyway.
Parades Yea
Speaking of displays, let’s talk about the parade! Now this is something I can really get into! Who doesn’t love a good parade? The music, the floats, and all those people cheering – it’s just so exciting! And sometimes, if I’m lucky, I even get to join in on the fun and walk in the parade with my humans, or maybe it’s with my humans chasing me! That’s great fun but Mom puts an end to that pretty quick. Sigh.
Anyway, I may not be able to throw candy or ride on a float, but I definitely steal the show with my cuteness. But I am on the job even here, making sure no stranger danger bothers Mom or Dad. Actually that’s pretty easy as Mom says most people are afraid of 80 pound dogs with knives for teeth. I love everybody though! Well, not other dogs so much, but almost all people! I even give kisses!
Conclusion
But amidst all the fun and excitement, let’s not forget the true meaning of Independence Day – celebrating our freedom as a nation. It’s important for us to remember and honor those who have fought for our country’s independence, and as a dog, I am forever grateful for their bravery and sacrifice. Also, lets not forget all the dogs who serve in the military and make our soldiers safer.
So this July 4th, while you are enjoying all the festivities, don’t forget to give your furry friends some extra love too. And if you
